2005 Kia Sorento Review By Car & Driver
The Sorento falls squarely into the overcrowded mid-size-SUV segment. It is exceptionally roomy, with comfortable three-abreast seating in the rear, but its stylish bobbed tail limits cargo capacity to 66 cubic feet, and there is no third-row seat. The Sorento's body rides atop a separate truck-style frame, making it a robust vehicle, with its fully boxed chassis and unequal-length control-arm front and live-axle rear suspension. It's powered by a 192-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 engine, backed by a new five-speed automatic for 2005 that replaces the old four-speed. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and the optional four-wheel-drive setup boasts a proper low-range transfer case and a limited-slip rear differential. Brakes are vented discs, and standard gear includes side curtain airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, eight-way-adjustable front seats, and power windows and locks.
